In April 2019, I embarked on a monumental challenge to bring my body into extreme movement through running, cycling, swimming and cross-fitness training. The goal was to make a total of Five Million Steps, acclimatise to the time zone and temperature, and get ready physically, mentally and emotionally to run 11,000 kilometres through Asia.
My challenge took place on three islands in Indonesia (Bali, Nusa Penida and Gili Trawangan), the Malaysian part of Borneo, three islands in the Philippines (Luzon, Cebu and Bohol) and in Taiwan.
Starting from 25,000 steps per day and increasing it to over 100,000 daily, it took me 101 days to complete the challenge. Resulting in a total of Five Million Steps!
Three weeks later, I started running Southeast Asia Ultra-Run, 11,000 kilometres from Hanoi in Vietnam to Denpasar in Bali.
